Jim. I am on a different puter now, that lets me post. Sorry for being late.
The Curry line took off from the SVRy mainline at Curry siding, located near where Union Creek Campground is, and about half way across the lake, and pretty deep under water.
The line was uses extensively as a branch to serve the many, many logging lines on the south side of Sumpter Valley. It was built to main line standards, and many of SVRy rod engines were used to pick up sets of log cars on different sidings on the line, to be taken to the mills in Baker City. It would provide a wonderful and scenic restoration. It also featured the largest trestle on the whole svry system.
Hope that answers some of your questions.
Ron
