Yep, the May trip was a TU event, and Ron was the leader on that one as well. It was the first time #18 was out on the line, and it was touch and go as to whether it'd be ready for our departure, but we did make it. Things didn't always go smoothly on that trip, both for the RR and for me as I had camera issues with both my film and digital bodies, but a good time was still had. It was one of the more memorable charters I've done - and it will never happen again.
On the topic of 1744, I was on hand for the last run it ever did on the line, and also have a sequence of photos from that final run. One of these days, I'll have to get to those film strips as well. In the meantime, here's a very old rendering of one of those shots of 1744 at the Alamosa depot at the end of that final run.
