There was talk about the 492 getting a new firebox in the mid-50's. Also when 492 hit the Rock in 1962 or 63 it received more work. Mostly front end and a new Smokebox Door (off K-37 #490 that was being scrapped at the time). Maybe because of this work it is more "leagal" than 497. I would think that 494 and 495 not being run since 1961 would be in the same boat as 497, but I can't say for sure...
