That is a makeshift coupler pocket on Repo C&S 8311- not an original C&S coupler pocket. The top of the 1910 C&S coupler pocket is shaped differently, and the wood sheathing fits more tightly around the coupler pocket.
1910 C&S coupler pocket:
The sheathing on the Repo C&S 8311 has a gap around the coupler pocket. Fourthermore, the coupler pocket on the "A" end of the car was a 1909 C&S coupler pocket, when the car was at Central City, before the Repo superstructure was added.
"A" end - 1909 coupler pocket:
The White Pass started fiddling with the coupler pocket om the "B" end of the car, for reasons unknown to me.
"B" end - fiddled with coupler pocket:
It looks like the photo shows the "B" end of Repo 8311 - the end that White Pass had fiddled with.
