John,
I think you are correct. The railcar was built by firm in SW Colorado. I am not sure where? However when I was at the WP&Y in Sept 1998 the car had just been delievered that previous month and some new coaches. The design was similiar to the D&S and think used a plymouth loco drive as the base for the power truck.
I never saw it operate on the D&S. The WP&Y tour for TUT had been promised a trip from Caribou to Fraser with the new railcar. However they were still working the track over to Caribou and the CTC had not certified the track. We used it from Log Cabin to Fraser, then switched to the diesel train to Skagway. We never used it again on that trip. When I went back in 2000 we didn't see it operate on the TUT tour.
I do understand the railcar was used on D&S during the high fire danger period out of Silverton for a short while?
