Les; From the rule books I have found the signal
varied from RR to RR. Here in the midwest the
- - 0 - was the most common. Howwever I found others where . it was - - 0 0. Plus one where instruction were to hold the last 0 until the
locomotive was at the crossing. This, of course really made it another long.
One of the female engineers currently operating in our area has the best idea. She just toots the whistle about every 75' as she goes thru town.
If the purpose of the whistle is to attract atention she has hit the Jack Pot !!
