For a little pre-D&S history when the D&RGW would run those excursions out of Alamosa for 2-3 days, many times they carried a yellow box car behind the engine. This was used for luggage for the passengers who generally had to stay in Durango for 1 or 2 nights. Recently I posted a video of some 1965 excursions and the short one had a box car behind the 484. We learned this was 1965 by the way!!! Here is the link to the clip.
