FWIW:
This morning, I saw a story in the Durango Herald, in which John Harper was interviewed on Tuesday and he apparently told the reporter that the story claiming the Mount Rainier Railroad had closed permanently was untrue.....essentially stating that it did not come from AHR. Harper's message was: “We’re closing for the foreseeable future, because we don’t know when we will be able to operate. We don’t know when we can bring back employees,” That is materially different from a permanent closure, which would imply a future sale or liquidation. Interestingly, Mr. Harper did not elaborate as to where the more foreboding story may have originated.
When it comes to gloom and doom stories, I always try to keep in mind that press tries to play on people's emotions and make everything sound like a bigger deal that it really is. Just listen to the opening teasers on the CBS evening news each night, and you'd swear that the end times are coming.
