I have read several of Borneman's other books:

Rival Rails: The Race to Build America's Greatest Transcontinental Railroad
Polk: The Man Who Transformed the Presidency and America
1812: The War That Forged a Nation
The Admirals: Nimitz, Halsey, Leahy, and King — The Five-Star Admirals Who Won the War at Sea

Rival Rails was republished as IRON HORSES:America’s Race to Bring the Railroads West

All were easy reads.
