I got my hardcover autographed at the Texas Book Festival in Austin, where she was on a panel with Craig Johnson, who had just published his first Longmire book. After the rest of the autograph seekers departed we had about a 15 minute threeway conversation about the west, railroads in the west, and for Craig's benefit, about living in Buffalo, WY about 15 years before he moved there. Great people both of them.
That afternoon, I got to hear Walter Bornemann who wrote the book on Marshall Pass, and got that one signed as well as hearing the story of how it came to be written while he was still in college. Walter is another excellent historian and an easy read, as well as an all around good guy.
Been to lots of Texas Book Festivals after that one, but none quite as good.
