Re: Another day on the Madera Sugar Pine Grades COVID-19 edition

Continuing our exploration:

Just a short distance above the bottom of the Crow Peak Incline was about a 200 foot trestle. I wanted to hike down around the location to find some of the groundwork for the bents but found too many trees had fallen and it was pretty much impassable. Here's a view on the upper end of the trestle site looking down towards the base of the incline:

The modern dirt road bypasses the trestle site to the south.

Here's a view from the road looking up the incline:


As I was standing there, I noticed what appeared to be another grade on the hillside skirting the trestle site. Wondering if it was an un-mapped spur (I've found a couple of spurs on inclines in MSP country) I hiked up to the grade and followed it back to it's junction with the incline grade. Here's a view looking up the incline at the junction point:


And here's the view looking downgrade from the junction point:

The "spur" is on the left and the incline is below to the right. What became very apparent was the groundwork to build the "spur" had partially filled in the groundwork for the incline. This "spur" postdated the incline. I decided to hike it to see where it went.
