When I saw this post yesterday, I thought what coincidence. I’m in the process of building Flanger OG in Hon3. Its just about ready for paint. After painting, I’ll install the wood decking and the air cylinder and piping. This started out as a Rio Grande Models kit! ( no longer in business what a shame). Because, they are no longer in business, I’ve decided to scratch build as many parts as I can for this flanger. So far the only items I’ve used from the kit, are the trucks, bolsters, brake cylinder and end beams.
I’m in the process of building all 11 flangers the D&RGW had. Thus far I’ve completed 7. I have included of recently completed OT. I still need a little light weathering on OT. All 7 of my completed flangers have been built with Evergreen styrene frames and custom built styrene blades. The only wood I use is for the decking and tool boxes. After OG is done I need to build OK, then the two double bladed ones! OF and OL. Notice I’ve saved the toughest two for last. This is due too the complexity with the extra air cylinders and piping. I have the blades built for both of these built. I’ve included the blades for OL. The wings are operational and can open and close.
Thanks for looking.
