Well, that's not quite the accurate story. The structure has been completely rebuilt, in its original form, but with little sympathy to its historic features. It now sits way off ground level. Her structure actually sits pretty much on top of the property line, and she really has no claim to the roadway, hence her "struggle" with the county. The other structure, that appears in many historic pictures near her building actually sits on Forest Service land, and though she may have an emotional claim to it, she fails to have ownership. It still stands. I drive by this in the summer, several times a week, coming from Silverton over Ophir Pass. The state was doing some major rock work at the road juncture this past fall to make for a safer access to the highway. The whole location is very sad knowing what it once was.
