It's been a couple years, but last time I saw the Telluride Goose #4, it was in fairly good shape. It's kept painted and is complete. I heard a rumor that the Dolores group offered to restore #4, but the town of Telluride was content to leave it as is, where is. Maybe one day they'll see things differently.
There is alot to see around Telluride that's connected with the RGS. You can follow most of the grade from Dolores to Ridgway. If I could, I'd take the trip to see what's new in Dolores, more track laying is supposed to take place this year. I'd also like to see the Rico tank restoration progress. Trout Lake trestle is still up and worth visiting while it is. From what Fritz said, it sounds like the restoration needed will not be funded by the Forest Service. I could go on and on, but you get the idea.
Have fun if you go,
Mike
