I've had subscriptions to Rails Northeast, Locomotive and Railroad Preservation, RMC, Trains, Railroad and Railfan, Railroad Modeler, (I tried to get Slim Gauge News but the next issue was their last and it was succeeded by as the Gazzette), Garden Railways, Live Steam, and Modeltec. Probably a few more over the years.
As my interests have changed, so have my subscriptions. I have back issues of Model Railroader back to a 1945 Kalmbach bound yaer. Fascinating reading given the fact that it was published during the last year of WWII (my subscription was my first ever at in 1967). (as an asside I found it in an old used book store that did not know what they had - I paid $8 for it about 10 years ago).
Rails Northest was a very good magazine - my major gripe there was that I'd paid for a 3 year subscription in about 1978 (second renewal) and 6 months later - no magazine came, no response to letters - nothing. Never did find out what happened.
NG&SLG in among the best out there. Since I started subscribing about the second year they started publishing, I've kept it.
I had some Garden Railways issues from about 1990-1994 and enjoyed the magazine. Although I have a subscription, the current magazine has more emphasis on GARDEN and not RAILWAYS (as mentioned elsewhere). Kalmbach sent notice to clubs to offer a lower subscription price to club members when bought through the club. So I have about 4.5 years paid up. Hopefully they will change a bit.
Since Trains has become more modern and my tastes are not there usually not there, I believe that I'll browse each issue at the hobby shop and purchase as desired. I asked them about reprinting the 1960 era issue about the Wonder of the Narrow Gauge and the article "into the Darkness" about a caboose ride ove Cumbres at night. They sent a very nice letter explaining that trying to contact the original author's estate and getting approval would by difficult. I do not know the law here, but I thing something becomes public domain 25 years after the auther's death.
I subscribed to the first year of Classic Trains but I now do like Trains - based on review.
I've just let RR&Railfan expire - I liked it and Trains mainly for updates (that I can not find in the Gazzette (ex-PRR happenings) but I've not renewed many descriptions this past 6 months due to the recession the government claims is over

I subscribed to LID for the article on N4700 and got a bonus on a K-27. My gripe was that the construction articles had neat topics but the writing was so bad it was hard to follow even when I knew the subject.
I sorely miss L&RP. It was the best out there.
I'll probably end up with Live Steam, Model Railroader, and Garden Railways (I'd gladly replace it if there was compitition).
