Great Photos Jerry...thanks for posting.
Here's a request...for you Jerry or anyone else who might be around OY or OM doing some photos...I can see from the videos in recent weeks as OY was getting prepped that the two cylinders operate in opposite directions...I understand how this translates via the gearing up front to drive the rotary blades. What I'd like help with is what the valve gear revering mechanism looks like to make this happen. Specific questions:
1) Are there two johnson bars to set the two sides running opposite directions?...or if one what does the linkage look like to make this happen....or if two johnson bars what does that look like at the valve gear end?
2) Would be great to see photos of the the "up front" gearing...I've seen some drawings that show the general arrangement so I understand how it translates the motion...but details would be helpful.
The reason for all this is I'm pondering a long range project to make a 1:20.3 live steam model of either OM or OY that functions as much like the prototype as possible....Why one might ask?...The answer of course is I want the challenge in order to keep my mind young in the coming years!
As they say, "a picture is worth a 1000 words"....would be great if someone could provide photos or plan to take some if have access to these areas of OM or OY in future. As an east coast guy still in the work force I don't get enough time off yet to spend time traveling everywhere I want...
Thanks in advance for any assistance....
