I've got a bunch, written about that scab outfit from Texas that bought our RR and fired us after we reorganized with the UTU.
One lengthy one, about the then general manager, went like this:
Poor old Dale, that sorry soul, made union bustin' his main goal.
He fed the boys a line of crap, as if they were a bunch of saps.
With advice from lawyers, costin' lost of dough, he tried seeds of discontent to sow.
But the boys were not as dumb as that, they could see the truth back where they sat.
They'd read the compan'y handbook well, and it made them mad as hell.
To see they had no workers' rights, surely it was worth the fight.
For dignity, wages, and more still, unlike the doctrine of at-will.
That says workers can be fired without recourse, a law that should be banned, of course.
The vote came down and the union won, the boys had seen the bright new sun.
And poor old Dale was in a fix, from a law in place since '26.
And when they canned him, he soon learned, if you're not in a union, you can get burned.
Poor old Dale got fired himself soon after he fired us. We've since gone on to work for real railroads and the union is still in place up there.
