Here is one more look of Garrat action on the NE Dundas Tramway - switching at the ore loading area in Williamsford
After the 2 foot gauge was shut down, Garrat K2 was scrapped, but K1 was shipped to Beyer Peacock in Wales. Here is K1 taken apart and loaded on a 3'6" gauge flat car in the port of Burnie. Presumably the parts will be crated for loading into a freighter. The engine was re-assembled at Beyer Peacock and displayed. After Beyer Peacock went out of business, the engine went to the RR museum in York before finally being restored to operation on the Welsh Highlands Railway.
K1 ran on the Welsh Highlands Railway (not my photo), until the boiler certificate expired. Due to K1's low tractive effort compared to the NGG-16s, it's return to service will likely have to wait for some time.
