If people are going to photo or video the rotary from the road, depending on recent weather conditions, the road may be pretty slick. A fall could be pretty unpleasant for curmudgeons, regular people, and camera gear. Hiking with Jack in the San Juans on hard packed roads and trails every day, I have found stretchy cleats that easily slip on to your boots an indispensable accessory. After a couple of hard falls early in the season, I wear them every day and have not taken a fall since. There are types with minimal projections, and some that resemble crampons. The "minimal' type is likely adequate for most plowed road surfaces, and should be available in most outdoor stores. So...no more nose plants, if you please.
