Hi Russ,

At this stage no, Belgrave and the Dandenongs are quite safe, however, this being Oz in summer, that could change today. Crying Days of high fire danger are always a concern. Believe they have converted NA tank 14A to oil burning (much like the D&S) to try and alleviate any issues and so they can maintain a reduced schedule on days of total fire ban. It has become much like the White Pass & Yukon - the tourists are promised a steam train ride and they need to try and provide. Main fires in Victoria are several hundred km to the north east.

Just a clarification to my original post, G42 garratt didn't actually work the portion of the original forestry line now preserved, but further out in the narrow gauge forestry network, along with the Climax, but they were all part of the Victorian Railways narrow gauge system. (clear as mud drinking smiley )
