SP #9 (ex-N-C-O #9) was given to Inyo County along with the Laws depot site which includes the depot, water and fuel tanks, and the turntable. The property is under the management of the Bishop Museum & Historical Society. Over the years the Historical Society has also moved in historic buildings from throughout the Owens Valley.

The locomotive is there with a train of cars given by the SP. At the end of it is the one-time combine bag-coach which lost its clerestory roof and passenger trucks during its years of service as a caboose.

#9 was the relief locomotive when the diesel required servicing.
