Well when the first train arrived in June of 1879 it arrived at Lechner, the following week the Railroad announced the change of name to Como.
George Lechner had sold the land to the Railroad which included the Upper Como coal mine.
The spur to the upper mines was built the following month and this section was partly when they went over Boreas Pass in 1880.
The Lower mine spur came later, November of 1879, so that came from where the wye was, did they put, the wye in then or later I do not know.
So after the head of the track had moved to Weston, Como seemed to be mainly an interchange for traffic into the Blue River. I did find a mention that Lechner was looking to promote a line to the Blue River and wondered if that spurred the South Park into action.
I do not know why they did not build their own line to Leadville from BV.
And the back in from the wye is only mentioned in the later years.
