In 1953 the four locomotives and most of the OR&L’s rolling stock was sold to a railroad in Guatemala. I haven’t found any photos of the locomotives there but on smugmug I found a guy with a few photo albums of some Guatemalan railroads, one of the albums had photos of the OR&L Rolling stock being used. I have no knowledge about the locomotive’s service on this railroad except for knowing that they were purchased and shipped there. These albums also provide captions for each photo, one or them provide evidence that the railroad ran steam locomotives until 1985 when the entire operation shut down. I would very much like to know more about the four K-28s time here, knowing somewhat about Guatemalan railroading, these locomotives could still exist, rusting away deep in a forest with a bunch of other abandoned rail equipment, or they could have been scraped a long time ago. So far I haven’t found anything about their disposition, but so far my only resource has just been the internet.
I’ll see later today if I can find a link to these smugmug albums...
