This summer we took on the task of rotating 483's drivers into sync for the sole reason it just looks less disconcerting to the visiting public. (Tie rods are missing to the front and back drivers - the two middle drivers are still linked). Since we had only 10 to 20 ton bottle jacks at our disposal, that's essentially what we had to do: grease the rails and jack against the counterweights. Also, we placed jacks between the frame and portions of the leaf spring to take some of the weight off the wheels. It worked, but it was a slow process. So slow that we ran out of time and only got one set of drivers rotated. The other set will have to wait until next year.
