About 1/2 mile beyond the last spur was a spur going down the hillside:
We are looking east here. My wife is on the mainline. (This sequence is slightly out of order as I shot these photos on the way back). The spur heads east downhill for about 1/2 mile and ended up at one of the last logging camps used by Madera Sugar Pine in 1929-1930.
I decided to explore this grade a little ways downhill and left my wife on the mainline for a few minutes.

About 1/4 mile downhill, I ran into thick, impenetrable brush so I had to stop:
Not wanting to leave my wife alone too long, I retraced my steps.
