I am honored to be apart of this project for helping discover a sink and pedestal.
It is pure happenstance that I found it. About a year into starting my job at CRRM I spent some time looking through the box cars with spare parts. I happen to notice a sink base, but did not take the time to turn it over and look at it. When Bob and Richard came to visit I told them about this sink and said we could go look at it. Turns out to be the correct model for a C&S narrow gauge caboose. While Bob and Richard were picking them selves up off the ground I made an off handed comment "under some of this junk might be a pedestal". Then I turned over some other parts and the heavens sang. Again Bob and Richard were speechless.
Anyway I told them that your not going home without this. No idea how the museum came about this sink, but as far as I'm concerned it's 1008s.
Can't wait to see this car finished.
