I guess I was thinking in terms of 1940 and later. To me the closure of the Chili line and the RGS are hard to grasp since they were so far back many don't remember those lines at all. I can relate more to things in the 1950's because that's when steam was fading out on so many standard gauge lines, and by 1960 just about everyone had dieselize. So when places like Marshall Pass, and other lines out of Salida started to disappear in the mid-1950's it was understandable to a large degree. That being said, I would have loved to have experienced those lines out of Salida in steam days, both NG and SG for that matter.
