I saw a builder's photo of the first 15 1947 built bottom dumps for USG - they and Porter #1203 all built with roller bearings. GE built most of their smaller diesels with roller bearings, but around 65 tons up many early ones were still built with solid bearings as did most of the 44 tonners. I think all of the domestic 70 tons were built with solid bearings, the notable known exception being those for the Timken plant.
EMD built their switch engines fairly late with solid bearings, yet almost every road unit from 1939 on had roller bearings.
