Shalona has always been one of my favorite spots as it is isolated and so rustic. In 1958, when I was 17 years old, my grandma gave me $15 for my birthday. I purchased my first hard copy railroad book "Narrow Gauge in the Rockies" by Beebe & Clegg. On page 92 of the book is a photo taken by Beebe at Shalona Crossing looking north. I loved that photo and wanted so much to see the spot some day. Now it is 15 minutes from my home.
Was there again today and shot this video. Still not very green, but 65F. My good friend and D&S Chief Conductor Paul Carson had bunny ears on his conductor cap. Hopefully you and your son will enjoy the spot again. Happy Easter to all Jerry
