We're down to the last post for the Sanger Lumber Company and Converse Basin. The hoist brought the loaded log cars up to the top of Hoist Ridge and then lowered them down the other side to the Sequoia Railroad that delivered the rough cut lumber to Millwood where it was further cut until small enough to flume down to Sanger in the central valley.

I'm standing on the ROW and the road parallels it down to the base.
I wanted to drive down and explore the bottom of the incline and follow the Sequoia Railroad grade to Millwood, but we were running out of time as we wanted to visit Cat Haven (a sanctuary for big cats just outside Sequoia Park).
The last two photos are of a mystery object I found at the top of the hoist. The second photo has a quarter next to it for size.
Any ideas???
After getting home, I did some more research and used Google Maps to search the area of Converse Basin in more detail. I found quite a few more remnants that were not visible from the road.
I'm looking forward to going back next year...
