Here we've arrived at the Boole Tree:
During the logging era a nice photo (in Johnston's They Felled The Redwoods) was taken here of a donkey engine and a group of loggers:

I'm modelling the location of one of the loggers...
No one knows why they left this lone tree standing when their skid road went right past it. Maybe the fire damage reduced the amount of timber that could extract from it.
After visiting the Boole Tree we drove over to the Chicago Stump:
My wife stands to one side for scale.
This tree was known as the General Noble tree. The 3200 year old, 285 foot tree was cut down for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago where it was placed on display to impress visitors. Many disbelievers branded it a hoax.
