Four roads intersect the location of the hoist on Hoist Ridge. Walking around the area, artifacts kept showing up even though the area is heavily trafficked. Here's the first spike I found minutes after getting out of my truck:
It wouldn't be an incline site without some wire rope:
Nor would it be a logging site without a sardine tin:
I've found that these and tobacco tins are incredibly numerous at all west coast logging sites I've visited...
Buried in the roadway was this threaded rod along with some decaying wood.:
A couple of minutes of digging exposed this much...
Here's the collection of artifacts that my wife and I came up with in about 30 minutes of exploring:
Naomi was quite happy to find her own spike after I found one...
We left all of these artifacts at the base of the Forest Service sign for the road junction.
To be continued...
