It seems to be a mystery locomotive.

It was on the Nevada Transportation (owned the E&P before it became the Eureka-Nevada) for a few years. John Sexton who managed the Nevada Transportation and the Eureka-Nevada was involved with promoting the Surprise Valley -- this is the reason that Surprise Valley (SV) equipment showed up on the E-N.

I had the opportunity a year or so ago to help review the upcoming book about the E&P/NT/E-N by Greg Maxwell. Greg has spent many years (even decades) researching for this book. His roster at that time had no information about the locomotive (c/n, driver size, etc.). Surviving records show the locomotive came through a Chicago equipment dealer.
