As Ian mentioned, Greg, he and I have had discussions regarding cuts/dissolves, as well as clip lengths. Ian, perhaps because he is so much younger than myself, prefers hard cuts and short clips. And I have to admit that he has a valid view, and this style is excellently demonstrated by the very good job done in

ngdiscussion.net]) . However I feel the leisurely pace typical of the narrow gauge is best served by longer clips and smoother dissolves. Indeed, I use one-second dissolves and long clips when editing the Commission Meeting videos, partially so as not to awaken the viewer abruptly
. But in shots of trains running, I like clips of around 10 - 20 seconds, with occasional exceptions where the view is almost constantly changing, such as in:
