484 gets her fire cleaned, while 483 awaits her turn.
Mr. Coker cleans the ashpan. Not visible when I scanned the slide, but appeared when I added a bit of photoshopping are the numbers behind the white glass in the number boards. Why the numbers were behind the white glass is a question lost in time.
With her fire cleaned, 484 headed up to the north end and backed down the main. As the water tank was not functioning then not water was taken. The night watchman had filled the tenders with a garden hose overnight.
The frame numbers on the slides indicated two cameras were un use, but I thought I shot all these with my new Minolta SRT202. This pic shows my dad was using the Yashica rangefinder camera we brought along as a spare. I apparently had second thoughts about the shot I was caught framing here, as I didn't take the shot. My little brother is manning the tape recorder.
The next shot from my camera was this one of 484 getting sand.
484 coupled up to the train, and moved it forward to spot. 483 coupled on and we're ready to go! Check out those cool RR patch jackets those kids are wearing.....
