Actually, all things considered, 4319 is in pretty good shape. There are really no issues with the frame and most of the (original) wall boards are good as well. Most of the restoration worrk that is needed is due to “work” performed on the car in 1987 when it was modified for use as a passenger car. ( door cut into side, end sill replaced with a used railroad tie, brake beam hanger replaced with a scrap piece of steel plate, side sill replaced but stirrup steps and grab irons not replaced to name a few issues)
4319 is still very original and will remain so under the SPRS’s care.
