Ted, not to make a mountain out of a mole hill, but the 473 in the bumblebee paint scheme, ugly box headlight and all, was more than just a movie engine. It hauled revenue trains in that paint scheme, including the San Juan. Was it typical? No. But it was a footnote in the very real history of the narrow gauge. In many ways the reason it got painted yellow was no different than the reason many standard gauge engines (and their trains)received colorful paint jobs for various passenger trains. Bright colors appeal to the public whether they are on narrow guage trains or streamliners. If the D&S planned to paint all their engines in this scheme, or to keep the 473 yellow indefinitely, I might be more concerned. But the whole thing is being done in keeping with it being only a footnote. But an interesting and very legit footnote, and one that gives a bit of pizzaz to history.
