Congratulations to Jeff Ellingston for such a great job recreating this fabled locomotive's 1950 appearance. Jeff clearly models in 12" to the foot scale.
The doghouse was just about completely rebuilt from what I understand, and the headlight box was "scratchbuilt".
The fake stack is the one of the three which most closely resembles the original 1950 version. This was, if anyone actually cares, #476's stack, which was the newest one built. It replaced the one that snagged a drag line at Rockwood back in the 70's.
The cinder catcher has been modified to contain the D&S sprayer, which has proven so effective in reducing fires along the D&S right of way.
When the locomotive is repainted, they should leave the bands on there like the D&RGW did on the sand dome.
