Here is a another bit of SVRy ironic trivia. The 4 trucks used to replace mainline steam in 1947 were owned by SVRy and had SVRy painted on the doors according to a fellow I have talked to who's dad started out driving the trucks in '47.
I too have wondered if during the year 47-61 if #7 was ever called into service while 101 was down for repairs. It might have involved clandestine fire up without any records as it seems kinda unlikely under the old ICC boiler laws #7 would have been kept current as far as tube time for 14 years. In an ariticle that was published many years ago in a magazine a former employee of Big Creek and Tellocaset mentions the SVRy shops helping them out. I wonder if the SVRy shops actually worked on their std. ga. engines by bringing them down the dual gauge?
