Hey, good to hear from ya, wondering where you've been! Anyway, the Sumpter Valley actually lingered on until 1961. about two and a half miles of track were in Baker City to serve the Oregon Lumber Company mill and interchange. Davenport 101 (Rio Grande 50) was the final engine to pull trains for the Sumpter Valley Railway Company. It was then sold to the Denver & Rio Grande Western and used as the Durango switcher, much to the consternation of steam fans. Yadda ya, now she's being put back in service by the CRRM in Golden. And of course, our first train ran on the 4th of July 1976.
Talk to You Soon, Taylor
