Taylor,
An interesting subject, gets overlooked a lot - the remnant SVRy as an industrials switching road.
A couple of questions/comments:
- Ferrel claims "about a mile" of dual-gauge track remained in South Baker after abandonment. 2-1/2 miles sounds better, is there any record of exactly what was there?
- I heard recently that there was no ng rolling stock left after '47 - that the dual-gauge track was left for the ng lokie to move sg cars around the mill. But it also seems likely that ng flats may have been used for intra-plant transfer. Comments/rebuttal??
- OLC Shay #7 stayed on the property as well, presumably as a backup for the Davenport. Any idea when it may have been used last?
- Any idea when Whitcomb #100 (original S. Baker switcher) left the property? No one at the Simplot end seems to know when it arrived in Caldwell or if it went somewhere else in the interim.
