Earl is right there were times both the 19 and the 15 were a godsend. Remember if you have to rescue a train the stranded people aren't going to care that the rescue engine is not a steam engine. Also remember that for the steam engines a mile is a mile is a mile. They should be used where they make you money. When I first got to Chama the #19 was out of service with frozen and broken cylinders as a result of being put away without antifreeze. Working without a diesel to switch the steam engines around in the winter made everything much harder. Fixing the #19 was a high priority then and I am glad it is now.
