I vaguely remember some stuff near the wye. In the old days we would be coming from Ohio and take 160 from Walsenburg into Alamosa. The first sign of good things to come was the crossing on 160 which was the old line to Salida, but the tracks were still used for car storage. Not sure if it was during the Rio Grande steam days, or afterwards, but I believe we took a road to follow it into the yard through a little residential area. This would be on the east side of the Valley Line.
Regarding the yards, don't forget about FARM YARD which was just south of town where trains were left for the engines to back on and head west. This would have been South or SW of the West Yard I believe. Earl put me onto this little yard when working on some video clips years ago.
