Joking aside about the Hooper watermelons, that was still one of the prime produce loading areas, the other being just South of the Alamosa wye. Both these
most likely were served solely by the standard gauge after the mid-fifties. I doubt that on the Durango side that there was much use for iced reefer traffic after that
period either. Also, and another shoutout to Earl, I've been on the road on the North side of the East yard and never knew those ponds or those foundations
existed, nice to see some new information.
