but I will anyway. Here's my take on Hunters time at CN and CP. At CN he took a rather sleepy government bureaucracy and cut it to the bone, achieving a stockholder loving 55 percent operating ratio. Then he went to CP and got rid of all that low rated unprofitable (but high volume) international container traffic. So where did the international container traffic go....to the CN. Only CN had no crews or power to handle it, so CN turned into a huge parking lot. But Hunter is smart, he knows not to hang around because you can pick the low hanging fruit only once, then things come home to roost. So now he is off to CSX to do his magic. Keep in mind Hunter is only taking advantage of opportunities created for him by the lousy managers who preceded him who didn't pay enough attention to the greedy institutional shareholders looking for short term gain.. I understand the folks at BNSF are tickled pink to have Warren Buffet as an owner....need cash for improvements? cut the dividend, invest the cash, and create long term value. Nice concept. Lots of oversimplification in the above, but this is a narrow gauge space so I didn't want to exceed the gauge.
