Sorry I missed this discussion over the weekend. Most of the Mitsubishi-built 2-10-2's on the Rio Turbio are still in existence, but they were displaced by diesels several years ago. I believe the first batch of 10 were built in 1956 and then 10 more were built about 1962. The first 10 were extensively modified by Ing. L. D. Porta when he was the manager of the line, and the later 10 engines were built new with improvements designed by him. These improvements included Kylpor exhaust systems, Gas Producer Combustion Systems (GPCS), and numerous detail improvements.
I have a few photos of the engines (mainly of their Kylpor exhaust systems) on my webpage at the link below. There is also a page including an up-to-date status of each engine. About 1/2 the engines are stored in operable condition while the other half are (extremely) derelict.
I have another set of photos of the derelict locomotives which I plan to post to my webpage in the near future.
Good Steaming, Hugh Odom
