EBT 12: 22,100 lbs tractive effort. 112,000 lbs engine weight.
EBT 14/15: 27,600 lbs tractive effort. 147,150 lbs engine weight.
EBT 16/17/18: 30,600 lbs tractive effort. 163,000 lbs. engine weight.
D&RGW K28: 27,540 lbs tractive effort. 156,000 lbs. engine weight.
D&RGW K36 36,200 lbs tractive effort. 187,100 lbs engine weight.
Though I don’t have the figures for a C21, the EBT 12 is closer to a C21 in tractive effort than she is to a Rio Grande mike. So she couldn’t really pull much more than a C21, but with her larger boiler, she could pull that same train somewhat faster.
The EBT 14/15 have the same tractive effort as a K28. The K28 weighs somewhat more due to the outside frame.
The EBT 16/17/18 don’t even compare to a K36, being only 3,000 lbs of tractive effort higher than a K28. Even at that, the 16/17/18 are over weight in axle loading for the size rail without tie plates that the EBT used. When ordered, the EBT was willing to put up with extra track work for the extra power these engines provided.
