Great footage Greg. I always appreciate your aviation posts.
Good point Bill. I never thought about asking for any rides while
I was in, but was offered 2, which I gladly accepted.
I briefly was on the rifle team while at Edwards. All of the other members were officers
and they treated me really well. One of them found out that I worked on ejection seats
and casually said that he'd try to get me a helicopter ride someday.
I soon forgot about it, but one day my boss called me over
to his desk. He had the phone in his hand and was covering up the mouthpiece.
"Do you know a Major Thomas?" I couldn't remember, but answered.
Anyway, I got the OK to leave the shop and got a ride from Edwards out along
the Santa Fe East to past 4 Corners and back. Low level and a lot of fun.
No paperwork either, at least on my end.
