Reminds me of my young airman days. In the early 1950s every base had a couple of B-25, and all the pilots that had desk jobs would fly them on the weekends. I would go to Base Opps on Friday afternoons and ask if there were any flights going anywhere. There usually were, and they usually had an empty seat (unused seatbelt) in the rear, so away I went. Had to pull KP a few times for not getting back by Monday morning, but it was worth it. You can't do things like that in the Air Farce now days, cuz they are organized and require paperwork before you get in an airplane now days.
