WP&Y #69 ran at Stuhr Museum from May 1976 to September of 1990 when it was shut down due to defered maintenance. I could go on and on about the work thatlocomotive needed to put it into safe operating condition but I will leave alone by saying that the suspension was so baud that the driver flanges had cut through the boiler jacketing and the tread was working on it's passage.
Stuhr Museum did sell the locomotive back to the White Pass in a dissassembled condition in 2001 and the locomotive was removed to a storage site in Colorado. The last I heard the White Pass was negociating with a locomotive shop to rebuild #69 and return it to operation.
Hopefully they will anounce their plans soon.
